Palm Sunday: The Young Donkey Palm Sunday, and Christ will enter this ancient city in triumph, surrounded by children. Jesus mounted on a donkey, evokes the joy of the children and their eyes are full of this auspicious spectacle which in Zamora is known as ‘La Borriquita’ or the Young Donkey. It’s the first procession, in which all the children participate, is an informal brotherhood where the young of the city learn to walk in procession with palm fronds in their hands and who will form the next generation of penitents.
