Maundy Thursday evening: Vera Cross
The villages of Zamora specialise, as the names they bear testify, in bread to the north and wine to the south, although in many other lands these two products – cereal and the vine – are found together. Wheat, which grows on the flat lands in open fields despite the frost, and the grapes on the vine, fed by the sun and rain in the lands of Toro and Fermoselle. Bread and wine, the two halves of the heart of Zamora, on the solemn altar of the Passion.
