Easter Sunday morning: The Resurrection.
On the morning of Easter Sunday, Jesus resurrected reappears in the streets, churches and ancient squares of the town mingling among his followers. He walks along the river banks, blessing the waters and announcing his return in a swirl of sun and joy. Still in mourning, Mary the Mother, has come out early, her eyes aglow with gentle anxiety. She senses that the moment when she will once again see her son alive, and this time for ever, is approaching
This confraternity of the Most Holy Resurrection was founded at the beginning of the sixteenth century. She walks from street to street, blindly searching for her son.
Risen from dead is the work of Ramón Álvarez. The sculpture of Mary was carved in 1993 by the Zamoran artist Higinio Vázquez. These are the last images alive of Jesus and Mary along these bitter streets of sorrow and the Calvary of Zamora.
